Withington West History
Withington West Elderly Apartments were built in 1982 as part of a joint effort between the city and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It was, and still is, the intent of these two units of Government to develop decent, safe and sanitary, housing for the Senior Citizens and disabled residents of the City.Quality Management
The Withington West Elderly Apartments are owned and operated by the Ferndale Housing Commission. The Housing Commission has maintained a "High Performer" designation from the U.S. Department of HUD since 1991. The Housing Commission manages 263 units if housing for the needy.More Than Just a Residence:

The cost of rent at the Withington West Elderly Apartments is different for every resident that lives there. That's because your rent is customized to fit your own personal budget. Each resident pays 30% of their "adjusted" income as rent. "Adjust" income is the amount of income an individual has after medical expenses have been deducted.
The Housing Commission will supply gas and water for each resident. You will have a small electric bill each month; however, the Housing Commission will deduct amount off your monthly rent to compensate for electric expense.ALSO, if your income ever decreases so will the cost of your rent.
